Bernard Jones, Jr.

January 30, 1956 ~ November 25, 2018 (age 62)

Bernard Jones Jr. affectionately known as ‘BJ’, was born in Montgomery, Al to the late Bernard Jones Sr. and Cynthia Louise Jones. He transitioned peacefully from this life on Sunday, November 25, 2018 surrounded by his family. He confessed to Christ at an early age and joined the Beulah Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his departure.

Bernard was a loving husband, father and friend who devoted his life to his family and time to instilling good character, responsibilities and wisdom and knowledge to all those that he encountered. Bernard was a proud graduate of both Sidney Lanier High School and Alabama State University (ASU). He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Science in Counseling.  On September 3, 1983 he married his true love, Marcia Ann McArthur and they were married for 35 loving years. To this union was born their beautiful daughter, Brittney.

He served proudly in the United States Army as a recruiter for the Alabama Army National Guard retiring as a Master Sergeant. Bernard went on to continue his love of working with children by joining the Montgomery Public School system as a Behavioral Interventionist where he completed his second retirement in May 2018.

Remembering blessed and joyous memories are: his daughter, Brittney J. (Raynard) Dabney of Montgomery, Al; son, Delvylon (Betsey) Williams, of Prattville, Al;  sister Dr. Bernadette M. Chapple (Michael) of Montgomery, Al; Grandchildren, Dylon and Rylee Williams, of Prattville, Al; mother-in-law Florence McArthur, Mobile, Al; sister-in-law Sharolynne McArthur-Miles, of Mobile, Al; uncle Leon (Betty) Pressley, Millbrook, Al; nieces Michaela Simone Chapple, of Montgomery, Al; Kristin McArthur, of Oxford, Al and Jaquelyn Miles of Pensacola, Fl; cousin Isaac (Catherine) Welch Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; devoted and supportive friends Lloyd Davenport of Tuskegee, Al; Joe (Lisa )Davenport of Montgomery, Al; a host of brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the Men of Ten Strong and other loving family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 1PM at Beulah Baptist Church • 3703 Rosa L. Parks Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36105. #TheHeritageWay
