Samuel Melvin Wilkerson, 62, of Birmingham, Alabama, departed this life on November 3, 2018, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 16, 1957, in Mobile, Alabama. He was a 1974 graduate of Blount High School. He later joined the United States Army, where he served in the 89th Precinct as a Military Police Officer. He later became a licensed private investigator while residing in Birmingham, Alabama. Samuel was a member of Lilly Grove Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where he served as a Deacon. He joined the Pillars Gospel Quartet in 2009, where he was the lead vocalist for nine years. He was preceded in death by both parents, Simon Frazier and Helen Wilkerson-Frazier; one daughter, Ashley Nicole Wilkerson; and three siblings, Mary Tucker, Mellie Frazier and Orbert McIntosh. He leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Jerry (Gladys) Wilkerson of Theodore, Alabama, Charles (Latisha) Patterson of Mobile, Alabama, and Harvey (Iris) Wilkerson of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; three sisters, Patricia (Chester) Nettles of Irvington, Alabama, Jacqueline Wilkerson of Mobile, Alabama, and Catherine Wilkerson of Theodore, Alabama; five children, Tiffany Wilkerson, Samuel Wilkerson, Jr., Samantha Crenshaw and Demarcus Crenshaw, all of Prichard, Alabama, and Bradeca Renee Wilkerson of Mobile, Alabama; devoted friend, Audrey; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
